Frequently Asked Questions
What do you mean by “Level 2?”
Here is information about the levels I use on this website.
Did you take the picture of the book at the top of your blog?
No, I didn’t. Trilok Rangan took the picture. You can see the whole picture and all of the other photos he has posted on Flickr.com. Thank you, Mr. Rangan, for using a Creative Commons license!
What is ESOL?
ESOL means “English for Speakers of Other Languages.” We don’t like to call it ESL because that means “English as a Second Language.” Many, many of our students are learning English as a third, fourth, or fifth language.
Who can comment?
Anybody who is respectful can comment. My students, other students, teachers, my grandmother, engineers – anybody. Just be respectful. If you are not respectful, I will delete your comment.
Why did you start this blog?
A Level One student requested homework during the break between semesters. This blog was my experimental reply.
What are your plans for this website?
I’d like this website to be a useful extension of class time for my current students. I’d also like it to be usable and meaningful for people who aren’t my students. Since I teach different levels each semester, this means that it needs to be organized and simple to navigate.
I would like to do more with audio and video. I think it’s important that the blog become more than just reading. If you have suggestions, please leave a comment!
